If you’ve been working at music production for a while now, but are still failing to finish songs that you’re happy with — and others actually want to listen to — well, I’m going to share the best way to get unstuck.

You see, music production is complex. There is technical knowledge and a breadth of skills needed to be successful, making it an elusive art.

And what most people do (and what you may be doing) is build a Frankenstein of “expertise” by reading and watching random tutorials, trying those tips & tricks out, and ending up with a loop or a sound.

You feel some accomplishment for a moment, but then realize it’s not exactly how you want it. So you tweak. You find another tutorial that you think will help and try to apply what you learn but…

It still sounds wrong. So you start the whole process over again.

Hours later and you still don’t have anything really close to a song and you’re sick of what you’ve made.

Over the weeks, months (perhaps years…yikes), you spend your time dabbling with DAWs, starting songs, then abandoning them, accumulating plugins, watching hours of YouTube videos, but never really consolidating that knowledge into finished tracks that sound good — that you’re proud to put out into the world…

Hours wasted. Feeling defeated with the lack of progress.

You may even be starting to believe music production isn’t for you.

If this pattern sounds familiar, don’t worry, it’s not your fault.
