Perform a set in a club setting

  • Our 6 week course features a 2 hour weekly lesson from 7-9pm at our downtown studio, with the final lesson taking place in a club setting.

    We’ll teach you the fundamentals of curating and blending music to create a dynamics journey through sound.

  • Our course is designed for music lovers of any style who are just starting their DJ journey.

    Skip the frustrating initial learning curve, and fast forward to mixing like a pro.

  • • Set prep: Learn the software, how to build your music library, and curate playlists to streamline your performances

    • Understand music: Learn the importance of musical phrasing, song arrangement, and mixing in key

    • Flawless transitions: Go beyond basic beat matching and learn to do live mashups, blends, double drops, looping on the fly, and tempo changes

    • Multiple Genres: We’ll supply you with a library of music covering all styles and tempo’s to practice with, saving you hundreds of dollars in song purchases

    • Master FX: Learn creative transition techniques, and how to add a little something extra to songs without sounding cheesy

YELRIHS

Shirl T aka YELRIHS is a DJ, producer, and multidisciplinary artist born and raised in Edmonton, AB. She’s an accomplished DJ and a passionate music educator with a profound love for electronic music. With a wealth of experience in performance and education, Shirl is the perfect fit as our new DJ Instructor.

At night, Shirl masters the DJ booth, mesmerizing crowds with groovy, progressive mixes of house, disco, and techno. Alongside her dynamic DJ career, Shirl imparts clear and accessible instruction, empowering students for DJing success.

Shirl is not only an instructor but also a pioneer in electronic music production, holding a diploma in Music Production from NVMA Studio. Her upcoming tracks showcase a distinctive sound achieved through her custom digital synthesizers and analog instruments.

Moreover, Shirl is actively involved in initiatives like #23by23, working to boost the representation of female producers, and she also champions DollHaus, Femme House, promoting gender equity in the electronic music industry.

With a blend of musicality, technical expertise, and a passion for education, Shirl is a dynamic addition to our team supporting the next generation of electronic music enthusiasts.

TRIGGS

Kelly Spriggs aka Triggs is a veteran DJ from Edmonton. Triggs is no stranger to the festival and club scenes in Alberta, with notable performances at Astral Harvest and venues such as 9910, Chvrch of John and Union Hall to name a few. Kelly has created Edmonton’s first custom built sound system, the Umbral Sound System, which you can find at Umbral events around Edmonton and popping up at festivals around Western Canada over the summer months.

You can find Kelly moonlighting as a Sound Technician at one of Edmonton’s most popular venues, 9910. His vast knowledge of DJing, technical DJ equipment requirements & set up as well as his expert knowledge of all modern DJ formats including CDJ’s, DJ Controllers, Traktor, Serato, Rekordbox, vinyl records & turntables will help you gain insight into how to become a successful DJ.
