About The Workshop
This workshop is designed to teach you how to build a song from scratch using Native Instrument's Maschine. Over the course of an afternoon, Jos Cornell will give you an essential look at how songs are made while demonstrating one of the easiest workflows created by Native Instruments. Starting with the fundamentals, which include a software and hardware overview and pad lay out, we will move into sequencing & arranging, creating a pattern, editing a drum kit, and effective processing.
Next we will advance into Synthesis & Composition, learning how to use the Massive synthesizer as a sound design tool to create your own synth. We will also discuss different approaches to polishing your tracks using compression, equalization & balancing.
Jos Cornell is a certified Maschine instructor, and has been teaching these courses for half a decade, helping local producers succeed in their production ambitions. This workshop will be beneficial to both the beginner and seasoned Maschine user.
About the Instructor
Jos made his way into the DJ booths of Calgary’s club scene in the early 90’s. Deeply influenced by hip hop and rap, he was mentored by some of Calgary’s greatest pioneers of the House music scene and this is how he built his recognizable sound. His unique mixes and solid grasp of technical skills got him invited to Brighton England to work alongside “The Godfather of Tech House” Evil Eddie Richards as a resident at The Water Margin, one of England’s more prominent night clubs at the time. While Jos continues to throw down mixes at the occasional festival and nightclub, he has turned his focus to production and teaching. Selling the latest in production gear and offering technical support has made him the “go to” guy in the industry. His instructional course, as a certified Maschine instructor have introduce many people to the world of music production. With a patient demeanor and a great sense of humor he inspires those he teaches, to create and play in the same world that has given him so much joy.
